Self-reflection

Throughout life everyone has moments of self-reflecting; times they take to themselves to connect back to themselves, level up, learn more about themselves, be more comfortable with themselves, depend on themselves emotionally, shut the world out, and/or get closer to God. Everyone has their own reason to self-reflect. During this time that person may not connect with people like they normally would, might not post on social media that often, and might wait to see who reaches out to them. Often times the person realizes a lot of people aren't there for them or thinking of them as much as they are. This may hurt and this time in your life may be painful but everyone needs to go through it. You may normally be an outgoing person and extrovert but there may be situations or circumstances in your life causing you to be otherwise. Everyone has to learn who they are. The older you get the more things about yourself you need to learn. To know ourselves is to be one with ourselves and to never second guess anything about ourselves. This gives us confidence we need to shut out the opinions and comments of others. No one is perfect but we are perfect in God's eyes. God is the only being we need to answer to. God is always there when we call on him to love us when we don't have the courage to love ourselves.

People often use the time of self-reflection to connect back to themselves. Often, we stretch ourselves to be there for others; doing this, we may forgot or neglect ourselves. We may have also disconnected from ourselves all together. If this happens we can feel really lost and perhaps struggle to find our way back. By connecting back to ourselves, we prove to ourselves that we are just important as everyone else.

Self-reflections equals self-improvement. We sometimes have to isolate ourselves to get to the next level in life. Improvement requires changes and sometimes those changes are drastic. The way we respond to change in our lives can make or break us. Change is inevitable and is required to reach the next level. It is in everyone's best interest to get use to it, especially if we want to be successful and reach our goals.

Self-reflection often involves learning more about ourselves. As human beings, we are forever changing. It is important that we learn ourselves. If you know yourself, the less things we have to put ourselves through. If we know that we can't tolerate certain behaviors from certain people in our lives, we just won't put up with it. We won't have to go through the motions with someone who is wasting our time. Once we know ourselves, we have a better chance of knowing who is for us and who is not.

Self-reflection can involve becoming comfortable with and depending on ourselves. This also involves becoming comfortable with being alone and the way that we are. People won’t always be around to make us laugh and comfort us. We have to be able to comfort ourselves by looking within ourselves and finding that thing within us that helps us feel better. Social media plays a big role in us constantly comparing and judging ourselves based on false images and situations. People only post on social media the positives of life and often neglects their lows.

When we self-reflect we often shut the world out. Shutting the world out is not always a good thing. Shutting the world out for too long can lead to depression. Shutting the world out for a moment may be needed. A lot of bad things happen in the world that we can’t do anything about. Hearing about bad things in the world can affect us more than we think. Shutting the world out can help us block out the negative for just a moment and focus on ourselves and our goals.

Some of us use times of self-reflection to get closer to God. Though God is always there, often times we ignore the signs that he tries to sends us to show us we are on the right path or that he loves us and is there for us every step of the way. God may be the only being we have to turn to in our times of turmoil and discomfort. The love of God concurs all. Talking to God, seeking God, and praying to God is our ultimate answer for comfort and love.
